GAS SAFETY

If You Smell Gas:
  1. Turn off gas supply at the meter.
  2. Do not use naked flames.
  3. Do not smoke.
  4. Do not turn electric switches on or off.
  5. Open doors and windows.
  6. Contact Transco's gas emergency service on 0800 111 999

Properly installed appliances that are checked regularly should be safe. However, if you notice any of the following, you should switch off the appliance immediately and contact a CORGI registered installer:

  1. Sooting around the appliance
  2. A yellow or orange lazy flame
  3. Excessive condensation in the room

CARBON MONOXIDE

Carbon Monoxide is invisible, odourless and tasteless and can be produced when a gas appliance has not been correctly installed or maintained or the the chimney or flue becomes blocked. If you experience drowsiness, headaches, nausea or pains in the chest when using a gas appliance, switch off the appliance immediately, contact a doctor and mention the possibility of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Do not use the appliance until it has been checked by a CORGI registered installer.Unregistered installers and DIYers are not only breaking the law but can also put yourself, your friends and your family at risk.
